Mission COP23!
The new adventure that will see students from the high school “Tasso” in Rome take part in the Transversal Skills and Orientation Pathways (PCTO) of the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA), promoted by INFO/RAC at regional level and entitled "A lesson in environmental governance: discovering actions for the Mediterranean Sea and its coasts", has begun.
The students will be taking part in the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP23) to the Barcelona Convention, to be held from 5 to 8 December in Portoroz, Slovenia.
Their participation in COP23 will be a unique opportunity and, in order to optimise every stage of this new experience, the INFO/RAC tutors, Alessandra Casali and Céline Ndong, and Attilio Castellucci, a media communications expert, met the students at the school on Friday 20 October.
The initiative is a continuation of the themes covered during the training course, which ran from 7 February to 20 April 2023.
Ten pupils will have the opportunity to discover first-hand the COP, the supreme decision-making body of the Barcelona Convention and its protocols, whose aim is to protect the marine environment and the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea.
The students will participate as spectators in the plenary sessions and parallel events, but will also have the opportunity to present their own message to raise awareness of environmental issues relating to the Mediterranean Sea.
