Science and politics for the Mediterranean
A meeting on environmental change in the Mediterranean: this is the round table scheduled for Thursday 10 November at 14,45 pm at the Mediterranean Pavilion.
Organised by the Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Change (MedECC) and moderated by Julie Gattacceca (MedECC), the event, "Assessing Scientific Knowledge on Climate Change to Support Evidence-Based Decision Making", will present recent scientific findings on climate and environmental change in the Mediterranean, based on the First Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR1) published by MedECC and the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel of Experts on Climate Change (IPCC) (AR6), as well as the results of RICCAR (Regional Initiative for the Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on Water Resources and Socio-Economic Vulnerability in the Arab Region). The science-policy interface in the Mediterranean will be discussed.
The objectives of the event are twofold: to present the main findings of the IPCC's cross-cutting documents MAR1 and AR6 on the Mediterranean region and to discuss how to develop the science-policy dialogue in the Mediterranean, so that the results of scientific research help to develop policies at different levels to jointly build a sustainable future for the Mediterranean region.
