An award for sustainable enterprises
Let's talk about the WeMed Award created to promote inclusive transition in the Mediterranean and to recognise success stories and supporting actors. It is a flagship initiative of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD) wanted at COP21.
Now in this third edition, the award is developed and organised by MedWaves, the UNEP/MAP Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and Beyond Group. This edition is funded by the ENI CBC Med Programme.
The WeMed Award 2023 emphasises the role that sustainable enterprises can play in implementing a transition to a green, circular and blue economy in the MED region, for replication and policy-making. The project aims to facilitate economic and social development via supporting the creation of sustainable and green businesses that will lead to sustainable job creation for youth and women. It is jointly implemented in Spain, Lebanon, Italy, Palestine and Tunisia by MedWaves.
The award is dedicated at Business support Organizations (2 awards) and Entreprenurs/ Star-ups (4 awards). They must have a clear focus and mission aligned with the Green Business Support, Circular Economy, eco-innovative entrepreneurship field. BSOs can be at an Early & Growth Stage, they must be legally incorporated in one of the eligible regions of ENI CBC MED, and must have products and services.
The aim of the current edition is to:
- Recognize the implementation and Replication of one of the Outputs (Knowledge, Best Practices, Tools), in the field of Green Business Support & Circular Economy, produced by the 19 EU-funded Projects analyzed under the RESET Project.
- Inspire other stakeholders within the Green Business Support Field in the Mediterranean to integrate / replicate the Knowledge & Best Practices created by on-the ground projects in the field of Green Business Support and Circular Economy.
- Emphasize the need to promote transformations on the governmental and political level in the Mediterranean area to support Public Authorities in the adoption of effective measures in the fostering of Green Business Support and Eco-Innovative Entrepreneurship.
