The BlueTech Competition at start!

The BlueTech Competition, a technology challenge designed to encourage STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education in schools and inspire children and young people to engage with the blue economy, has officially begun.
The competition aims to empower students to actively contribute to the sustainable use of oceans, seas, and freshwater systems, playing a key role in the conservation of the planet.
It is open to all basic, secondary, vocational, and maritime schools across the EU (public or private).

Each team, with a maximum of five students, must be gender diverse and will be supported by a teacher / tutor. Each tutor can support a maximum of 3 teams in the competition.
Teams should seek partnerships with universities, polytechnic institutes and/or companies for technical and scientific support.
Students are tasked with creating a prototype, instrumented model, or biotechnological product that facilitates the monitoring of EU waters and their ecosystems or promotes the sustainable use of their resources.
Possible topics include marine robotics, renewable energy, solar-powered boats, aquaculture, and aquatic food enhancement.
The competition will award prizes for the best practical applications, as determined by the scores awarded by the jury.

The call for the 1st edition of the BlueTech Competition is now open until April 30th. Applications must be submitted electronically via  online form. The results will be communicated on May 10, 2025.
