Call for consultation on elements for assessing benthic habitats
SPA/RAC is launching this consultancy to revise existing monitoring and assessment scales, assessment methodologies, and criteria, as well as to develop baseline and thresholds values for IMAP Common Indicators (CIs) related to benthic habitats for the three habitat types (Posidonia, Coralligenous, and Maerl) based on the recommendations of MedQSR 2023. COST call 2024
The open call 2024 is open. Participants are invited to submit COST Action proposals contributing to the scientific, technological, economic, cultural or societal knowledge advancement and development of Europe. Multi- and interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged.

UfM Grant Scheme for the Promotion of Inclusive Digital Trade
Digital transformation presents unprecedented opportunities as an enabling tool for economic growth and social inclusion. It can help strengthen linkages between sectors in economies with high levels of informality, such as in Southern countries of the Mediterranean, and it provides smaller companies the chance to expand their markets. This Grant Scheme aims to support and increase the participation of relevant entities, such as SMEs, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, social enterprises, and business communities in e-commerce, with a particular focus on business organizations led and operated by women in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia.Submission deadline: 28 October 2024 at 15:00.
Second joint transnational call sustainable blue economy partnership
This second co-funded call aims to support transnational research and innovation projects (36 months) addressing one of the four priority areas below:
(1) Digital Twins of the Oceans (DTO) at regional sub basin scale;
(2) Blue economy sectors, development of marine multi-use infrastructures;
(3) Planning and managing sea-uses at the regional level;
(4) Blue Bioresources.
Deadline: pre proposal 10 April 2024; full proposal 6 November 2024.
CALL “Biodiversity and Transformative Change”
The call aims to: understand the trade-offs and cross-linkages between the global crises of biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution; identify, analyse, and understand transformation processes that can safeguard biodiversity and the benefits it can provide to people.
This call adopts a bottom-up approach with no predefined research themes. Projects should demonstrate academic excellence and potential for societal and policy impact on biodiversity, aiming to connect science, society, policy, and practices for transformative change.

Call for papers : In-depth analysis of the desalination sector in the Mediterranean. A path towards sustainable unconventional water resources in a Mediterranean basin under climate change impacts and water resource scarcity?
This call for papers invites researchers and other experts to explore new methodologies, approaches and insights into the field of desalination sector, focusing on the Mediterranean region and its diversity of socio-economic contexts. All papers must present evidence-based analyses and propose a set (minimum 3 criteria) of pragmatic sustainability criteria (in accordance with the COP23 decision mentioned above) to enhance sustainability and resilience of the sector. Deadline: 15 November 2024.
New EMFAF call for proposals for smart specialisation and regenerative ocean farming
The European Commission launched a new call for proposals funded under the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
With EUR 5.7 million, the call for proposals seeks to fund regional flagships projects supporting sustainable blue economy in EU sea basins for Smart Specialisation, as well Regenerative Ocean Farming and Algae Innovation. European seas and coasts have great potential to foster innovation and technological development.
