Presentation of the WES Project activities in Algeria

The project "Water and Environment Support (WES), in the ENI Neighbourhood South Region", financed by the European Union (EU), in cooperation with the Ministry of Hydraulics, the Ministry of the Environment and Renewable Energies and the EU Delegation in Algeria, organised a national meeting on 11 June 2024 in Algiers, the aim of which was to present the activities of the project undertaken in the field of the environment and water, as well as to discuss the way forward.

In his opening speech, H.E. Mr Messaoud Tebbani, Director General of the Ministry of the Environment and Renewable Energies, praised the quality of the approach taken to the cutting-edge activities of the WES project in Algeria. He also underlined the fact that many Algerian stakeholders would benefit from the recommendations and lessons learned to design and implement national strategies and plans.

 The results of the WES Project's national water and environment activities in the country have been significant.
