The "One Health" approach

At the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the Quadripartite recently launched a guide to help countries implement the "One Health" approach. The launch coincided with the first-ever Health Day at COP28 and a high-level ministerial meeting on climate and health.

The guide is an operational addendum to the One Health Joint Action Plan 2022 (OH JPA), signalling a strategic goal of country-driven implementation, and provides practical advice on how countries can adopt and adapt the OH JPA to strengthen and support national action for One Health.

Drawing on the JPA theory of change, the guide describes three pathways - governance, sector integration, evidence and knowledge - and five steps to achieve One Health implementation.
