WES Press Release: Single-use plastic-free coastal and marine protected areas in Greece
The Water and Environment Support (WES) in the ENI Neighbourhood South Region project team organised a regional training course from 9 to 12 July 2024 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The aim of the training was to build the capacity of the project's partner countries to achieve single-use plastics (SUPs)-free coastal and marine protected areas; responsible tourism and recreational activities within coastal zones; and the science-policy-practice interface through community-based research.
The problems associated with single-use plastic waste and the measures needed to combat it were presented during the training course to 35 stakeholders from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Spain and Tunisia.
